SESSION THEMES
IG transformation happens at three distinct but interconnected levels: the individual; the organizational; and within the overarching profession itself. To drive transformation, IG leaders must understand the unique characteristics, requirements, and external environmental factors that define excellence and influence change at each level.
- The Practice of IG
With the individual practitioner in mind, this theme looks at the tools, skills, and knowledge areas necessary for excellence in the professional practice of IG. Session topics under this theme focus on advances in technology and productivity platforms, changing and emerging legal and regulatory requirements, new and emerging competencies for job success, and trends and best practices that impact the conduct of IG work. - Championing IG in Your Organization
For IG to be successful, it must be embraced and valued by everyone in the organization, transcending silos and integrated across business units. Session topics under this theme provide understanding of the factors influencing the impact of IG within an organizational setting— including the connection between IG and business impact— as well as solutions that support embedding IG into the shared beliefs, values, and practices that define an organization. - Advancing the Profession
Information governance does not exist in a vacuum; like most professions, it is subject to the effects of the external environment in which it operates. Session topics under this theme focus on the political, economic, social, technological, environmental and/or legal factors that are influencing and impacting the profession. These sessions should examine ways that we can leverage and respond to these factors to elevate the profile of IG and transform the future of the field.
